What to expect on the day of your NABP certification exam.

The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) offers two main exams for pharmacist licensure in the United States: the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE). Here's a breakdown of what to expect on the day of your NABP exam, depending on which one you're taking:

General Procedures:

Bring Valid ID: Make sure you have a valid photo ID that matches the name on your NABP e-Profile.
Non-disclosure Agreement: You will likely have to read and agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before starting the exam.
Personal Belongings: Leave any personal belongings that are not allowed in the testing room at home or in a designated locker.

NAPLEX:

Schedule: The NAPLEX is computer-based and offered year-round. You can schedule your exam with Pearson VUE after purchasing it from NABP.
Test Time: You will be given 5 hours to complete the NAPLEX.
Content: The NAPLEX covers general pharmacy knowledge and competencies, including pharmacology, pharmacy practice, and medication safety.

FPGEE:

Frequency: The FPGEE is administered only once a year.
Content: The FPGEE focuses on assessing whether your pharmacy education from outside the US meets the standards of US pharmacy programs.

Results:

Turnaround Time: Expect to receive your scores within 8 weeks for the FPGEE.
